Two sickies and one healthy

Well we finally had to go to the doctor yesterday. Our fevers returned and I didn't know what else to do. Turns out, Hudson and Ella have ear infections. Carter has nothing. I didn't think about ear infections because they always have super runny noses when they have ear infections, but not this time. So we started on antibiotics and they are already better this morning, and no fevers yet!

This weekend, the kids got a fun new toy that has kept them busy for hours on end. It is this lovely piece of equipment that has now permanently fixed itself to the wall in our playroom. It's large and ugly but the kids LOVE it!

I love that our formal living room is now kid central!

"I'm gonna get you. Ticka, ticka, ticka (her word for tickle)!" - Miss Ell

"I don't know why these yahoos keep going back and forth through this thing" - Carter man, more content to just sit and enjoy

Fun Filled Holiday Weekend

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. We had a busy, sometimes not fun one! Friday, we went to the park and Jake came with us so the kids actually got to play on the equipment and Hudson and Ella, were little daredevils. Carter was a semi-daredevil we'll call it. Saturday, the kids got a new tunnel climbing toy which they absolutely love. Sunday, Hudson and Ella woke up and had 102.2 fever all day Sunday and half the day Monday. After their nap on Monday, they were perfectly fine. Weird, I know. Sunday afternoon, we played outside in our new flower sprinkler and Carter and Ella loved it! Huddy was not so thrilled and stayed a safe distance away from the crazy spraying flowers. I took literally a ton of pictures this weekend so I have to sort through all of them but here is some of the kids at the park on Friday. Come back tomorrow for pictures of the new monstrosity of a toy that the kids are now obsessed with!

Huddy would climb all the way to the top of the big slide and then slide all the way down. Don't worry, Jake was on the side making sure he didn't fall off.

Ella, would only make it about halfway up the slide, but enjoyed it none the less.

Carter was more content to run on the ground and not climb up the slides.

Splish, Splash!

There was some serious splishin' and splashin' going on around here Sunday afternoon. We bought the kids one of those plastic pools from Wal-Mart, and they absolutely love it. They loved swimming in my parents pool last summer but since they're older, I didn't know how they would react. Welp, the reaction was good. They splashed and jumped and squealed for about 30 minutes. After that time, Jake and I were worn out so we called it a day. We have only got to get into once, since Jake is out of town this week, and I don't like things involving lots of water when I'm by myself, but I think our Memorial Day will be filled with sunscreen, floppy hats, and lots and lots of splashin!

Hud was not thrilled with the hat, but I calmly explained that we must protect ourselves from the sun!

Ella on the other hand enjoyed her hat so much we now wear it all day, everyday!

Carter often asks me, "Momma, does my giant scar make me look tough or what?" And I always say "Of course son, the ladies love a bad boy, but no tattoos yet!"

The Hud man forgot all about the hat once we got in the pool.

Miss Ell and her boats just enjoying a little float!

Carter was a little leery at first, but after he warmed up to the idea, he was a splashing maniac!

Surprise and I are twelve weeks today! And I'm proud to announce, drum roll please, I haven't thrown up in TWO WHOLE DAYS!!! That's right, two days of not choosing food based on what is easiest to throw up. Hooray! This might actually be a normal pregnancy after all, cross your fingers. We go back to the doctor next week to check on the little bean and see how he/she is doing.

Take me out the ballgame!

Well Friday night the Jake, me, my mom, my dad, and the kids enjoyed a little baseball. It was opening night for the new "Grand Prairie Air Hogs" at QuikTrip Park. The place was packed. We had no idea there were going to be so many people there. It was completely sold out, but we had a great time. We did almost lose Hudson cup over the left field wall, but overall, the kids were very well behaved and we had a really fun night! If you live in the area and have a family, this is the way to go. Parking was only three dollars, tickets were only five, and the concessions were really reasonable. Way cheaper than the Ranger's games! Here's some pics from our fun night.

The whole fam enjoying some Air Hog baseball

Huddy doing a little dancing' and snappin' to some music

Miss Ell posin' for the camera, like always

Carter says "We're #1"

Come back tomorrow for our first adventure in our new pool! Very exciting!

Merry Christmas in May!

OK, so we have had a crazy busy week/weekend! Jake's mom was in town for a visit on Tuesday and Wednesday, my aunt was in town Thursday afternoon, and then my parents were here for a visit Thursday night to Sunday morning. We had a great week with everyone and it was nice to have some help!

OK, so to the title of this blog. Jake and I got a pergola for Christmas from my parents. So my dad and Jake built it this weekend while my folks were down for their visit. We love it! It is so awesome! We also got all new interior doors which is huge, because for some reason, none of our doors or hardware matched. And more importantly, none of them shut. They stuck, and were really loud, but didn't shut all the way. So now they all match and they all shut! Woo-hoo, it's all about the little things! Here's some before and after pics.
Here is the porch/patio before

Here it is after! It is only half way painted, but I love it!

The kids also had a very busy weekend. Friday night we went to the Grand-Prarie Air Hogs baseball game. Saturday, they kept my mom and dad busy while Jake and I went to the Rangers game and a concert. I have a ton of pics and updates so check back this week for some major cuteness!

He went to Jared!

OK, I know everyone hates those stupid "Jared" jewelery commercials, but I'll give 'em some credit, they've got some pretty nice stuff! Jake surprised me this Mother's Day with some brand new diamond stud earrings. The ones I've been wearing, I got for high school graduation. So after six years, Jake decided it was time for a new pair. They are gorgeous, and I love them. They are three quarter carat princess cut diamond studs. I was really surprised, we aren't really gift people. We're usually card people. I love me a funny card. So to get an actual present was really cool.

Sunday, we got up and went to church and then went for my favorite lunch. Sonic burger and french fries. Apparently, Sonic is not the most popular place for a Mother's Day lunch. We were the only ones there, haha! Give me a good drive-thru burger over a restaurant any day! After lunch we came home, the kids took a good nap and I laid on the couch and took in a ridiculously sappy Lifetime movie. All in all it was a great Mother's Day! Hope all the Mom's out there had a good one too!

This was before church on Mother's Day last year. The kids were about four and a half months old.

This is before church yesterday. Wow, what a difference a year makes! I don't know who looks like they changed the most, me or the kids. Sheesh, I look old and tired!

Uno mas, por favor!

If you like the catchy title, you can thank my dear husband Jake. He suggested it in the elevator after our doctors appointment yesterday. I knew he get into this whole blogging thing. Well turns out Surprise is just ONE Surprise. We were a little nervous until she finally stopped looking around and said there was definitely just one. I'm also further along than we thought. I'm now just over ten weeks. So hopefully in two weeks, this sickness will magically disappear as quickly as it surfaced. Hey, one can hope right. Since I've had to stop typing twice to throw up, I am really, really hoping. So Surprise's new due date is December 3rd. We'll schedule the C-Section a week or two before that the doctor says, so it looks like we're on our way!

The kids are doing great. They had a great time at Adventure Kids yesterday. Hudson was banging on the door to get in. I guess he really likes it there. Ella and Carter were a little more skeptical but calmed down as soon as I left. They were climbing all over the little ramps and toys when I got there. They didn't want to leave and cried when it was time to go. We are finally going to get to go outside today. It has been raining the past three days and I'm ready for some sunshine!

Here's a pic of the kids after dinner one night partaking in their favorite activity. CLIMBING! On anything and everything! And of course, climbing is always better when your naked right!

This one's for you Dad!

OK! So I know I haven't blogged in a looong time so here goes. Everything is going pretty good around here. The kids are doing great and learning new stuff everyday. They have inherited my complete and utter love of dancing. We listen to music all day and just dance around like crazy people. At night time after dinner, we strip them down to their diapers, and that's when the real party starts. Naked dancing is way better than fully clothed dancing they think. Which scares their father to death, especially about Ella! Haha!

Here's some naked dancing from Ella and Carter.

We had a great weekend! It started out with our NICU reunion which was fun. We saw our nurses and one of our doctors and got to check out the new place where Surprise will be born. Pretty fancy. We also discovered that you can purchase those Frito Lay Cracker packs for thirty two cents! Thirty two cents people, that's cheap. Anyways, so the reunion was fun and Carter and Hudson ran around like crazy people. Ella proffered to be held by someone at all times. I tell ya, twenty five pounds of pure love gets heavy, quickly!

After the NICU reunion, we went to our friend Sam and Holly's lake house. We met them at Babies-R-Us, and they are having triplets at the end of June, hopefully. So we spent the day basking in the sun, while protected with sunscreen of course, and fun was had by all. There was another couple there who is having a little boy in just a couple of weeks. So the girls and the kids hung out in the backyard and watched the boys go out on the boat. The kids were so good and even took a really good nap at a strange house which is really rare. Sam cooked out for dinner and it was really good I'm told. I ate hot dogs with the kids b/c I'm having an aversion to poultry at this stage in pregnancy. After dinner we loaded up and headed home and the kids slept like champs, and three days later, there still sleepin' it off. I think they must be growing b/c they are sleepy alot more than usual. Oh well, I'll take a nap when I can get it!

Here's some pics from the lake fun this weekend!

Jake, Surprise and I have a big doctor's appointment today. Our first ultrasound. Hopefully we'll be able to figure out exactly how far along I am. I'm praying that we're close to being done with the first trimester. I'm so over throwing up. My stomach muscles and my throat hurt. Bleh! Boo the pregnancy side effects. I know it will all be worth it in the end. I'll let you know tomorrow what the good doc says! Have a good day!

PS: Hope that's enough pics for you Dad!

Back to normal....almost!

Well I'm glad to say things are finally getting back to normal around here. The kids are behaving like the little people I've grown to love and not the devil children that apparently inherited their bodies for a couple of weeks. They have picked up on a few new things as well. They are now all eating with their forks fairly consistenly. Every once in a while I'll catch a hand full of mac and cheese being shoved into someones mouth, but I'll take progress where I can get it. Their new favorite activity is climbing on the couch in the playroom. They play up there all day just sitting and being polite to one another. Oh sure, occasionally we will get into an argument over a toy and someone will inevitably take a header off the couch. But no major damage yet. Knock on wood. Here's a pic of the kids and their new favorite past time. Sitting on the couch after breakfast watching "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse".

As for me and Surprise, we are having a good day today. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were really rough, but I have been awake for three hours now and have not gotten sick once! It's like a new world record for me! Jake the kids and I are going to the "Baylor NICU Reunion" this weekend. I'm so excited to see all of our nurses and doctors. We used to go up every few months but we haven't been since the kids first birthday, so it should be really fun to see everyone. Also, we'll get to see the new 65 bed NICU and the new Women's Hospital. They were building it when I was there with the trips and I was so jealous. Every day, I could watch out my window and see the progress. Now everything is done and it's awesome. I'm super excited to see everything on Saturday!
