No more Tricks, we want some Treats!

Thank you all for your sweet comments. I took the kids back to the doctor yesterday and Huddy's ears look pretty clear. His right ear canal is pretty swollen, and was full of debris so we got some drops for it and he already seems to be digging and pulling at it less. They also sent us over to the hospital for some lab work just to make sure everything is in order since he has been acting so weird. We should have the results at the first of next week. So after we got home, the kids and I played outside while we waited for Jake to get home and then we ate some dinner. Carter wouldn't eat anything and then we discover a fever of 102.7! Aw crap, here we go again. After some Tylenol, some good cuddling and lots of water his fever finally went down. We played for a while and then it was off to bed. I was awoken at 11:30 pm to Carter dry heaving in his bed. Remember he ate no dinner so he had nothing to throw up. So I got him up and we ate some crackers, drank some juice, gave him some Tylenol and he finally went back to sleep about 12:45am. Carter and Ella slept great, Huddy not so much. He was up at 1:00, 3:00, 4:15, 5:00, 6:00 and then finally 7:15, I just gave up and decided it was time to start the day. It's so weird, he never cries and goes right back to sleep, so I don't know what the deal is. Hopefully in time, this will stop. So needless to say, I'm hoping Halloween goes well. We are going to attempt to take the kids Trick-or-Treating. We'll see how it goes! We're ready for some TREATS!!!

OK, so the kids had their first school pictures a couple weeks ago. The boys' turned out absolutely adorable. Ella on the other hand, threw a fit and screamed her head off during her picture. Seriously?! This is the girl who will drop everything to pose for a picture at any time so who knows what went wrong. Hopefully her spring pics will turn out better. Here's some pics of my little cuties!

Repeat after me......

It will get better, it will get better, it HAS to get better. So Monday started with a night of on and off sleep and a horribly traumatic event involving a Babies-R-Us shopping cart and Huddy's head. I won't go into detail since it still makes me cry and sound like the worst parent ever! Then that was followed with more no napping and no sleeping. Tuesday was decent, we went to the park thinking surely that would wear them out, but still no napping that day and no sleeping that night. Wednesday, though, was school day. So that means four hours all to myself. Well the four hours is quickly forgotten as I pick the little ones up from school and Hudson procceeds to throw himself on the ground as soon as we step in the door to the house and cry and throw fits off and on for the next four hours! Hooray! That was followed by less sleeping from Hudson but a good night from Ell and Carter. So needless to say, we are going back to the doctor today. There has to be something wrong. He is still digging at his right ear and it smells terrible, gross I know. And I can not get this kid full. He ate three cinnamon rolls, a big cup of juice, and two packs of fruit snacks for breakfast this morning and still wants more. Yesterday it was two waffles, a banana, and three packs of fruit snacks. I'm tired and I need someone to tell me that, yes there is indeed something wrong and we can fix it. I love these kids more than you could, and wouldn't change my life for but at times you can feel totally worthless when you have a screaming child that you can't calm down. Here's a pic of the kids yesterday before school in their Halloween shirts. This is how Huddy looks 98.7% of the time that he is awake.

Where, oh where have my good sleepers gone?

Oh where, oh where could they be? My kids have always been great sleepers. You could always count on a decent nap and a full nights sleep since they were about four months old. Well all of that has come to an abrupt end as of last week! I don't know what is going on but these kids think that they can run on an hour nap during the day and an eight hour night. Seriously??!! I can barely function on that. They have been going down at 7:30pm every night with no problem. They are exhausted, but come 3:30am, they are up and ready to roll. They open their door and holler at us, I go in and tell them it is way too early and it is time to go back to bed. They oblige and sleep for another thirty minutes and then it starts all over again. We go through this routine about five times, until finally it's 5:30am/6:00am, and I just give up. So the mornings around here have been way rough for the past week. And then comes nap time. They are exhausted. I'm talking, barely able to function tired, so you think they would take a great nap, but alas, they are down for an hour and then they are ready to cry, I mean play for the rest of the evening. I just don't know what to do. I'm exhausted, Jake's worn out, and the little darlings have been way less than pleasant for about ten days now. I'm praying this is a phase like the one other time. Please, please, please, just let this be a phase!

Here is one of our more pleasant moments, few and far between these days! It's just a phase, it's just a phase, it's just a phase!

34 Weeks

Little Surprise and I are at 34 weeks! It's getting soooo close. Or at least I thought it was. My doctor told me that the hospital is making us re-schedule my C-Section since it is scheduled four measly days before I am thirty nine weeks. We did that because thirty nine weeks is Thanksgiving week, and no one wants to be in the hospital during a holiday, especially me since I already did that with the triplets, Thanksgiving and Christmas. But she tried to plead my case with no avail so we are now scheduled on Wednesday the 26th, the day before Thanksgiving, which will be thiry nine weeks and two days. Hooray for hospital turkey! At least my family will be here this time. So other the than re-scheduling, everything went well. I'm measuring right on target and I even gained a pound over the past two weeks. Here is me and Charlie at 34 weeks!

The kids are doing well, despite the fact they all have full blown double ear infections! You would never know. I always give a runny nose three days before calling the doctor. The weather is changing so we just assumed that was it. They ate great, slept well and acted perfectly normal. Welp, apparently they are just tough and don't care that their ears are terribly infected. The doc dug out, and I kid you not, gunk the size of a tennis ball out of Huddy's right ear. We caught Carter and Ella's before they ruptured, thank goodness. Here's a pic of the kids before we left for school yesterday. It isn't a great pic but I thought it was too funny not to post!

Tiny Horned Frogs!

Well for those of you who know us, know we are HUGE college football fans. Well last Thursday, we got the chance to go to the TCU vs. BYU football game. BYU was ranked #8in the country so it was a big game. And we (Sooners) played TCU and beat them so if they could beat BYU (which they did) it would help our ranking. But anyway, so we got the kids dressed up in their purple and white and headed out to the big game. It took forever to get there because of traffic and even longer to find a parking place, but we finally made it inside. We found some seat up top and away from the huge crowd so we wouldn't disturb anyone and settled in for the game. The kids did AWESOME. It was so loud and there was so much going on that we though they might they might get overwhelmed, but they loved every minute of it! Carter loved the cheerleaders, too funny. Huddy was more interested in eating, but still loved all the sights. And Ella watched the game and cheered with her pom-pon! We made it through the first half and then decided to call it a night. Overall, we had a great time and I think the kids really like it! I didn't get very many pictures, my hand were a little full, but here are the two that I got.

The whole crew decked out in our white and purple!

And the award for Bad Blogger goes to.......

ME! I know, I know, I've done a terrible job this month of posting. Don't worry though, I have compiled a list of excuses as to why I haven't been keeping up!

Excuse one, we have had a super busy week around here. It was one of those weeks where the more you try to get things done, the more you find more that NEEDS to be done. Oh sure it starts innocently enough, you clean out a drawer here, organize a shelf there, and before you know it, you are in full force organizational/cleaning mode. I think some might call that nesting. You should have seen my hospital room with the triplets, way-too organized! So anyway, that's excuse number one.

Excuse number two. Why is it that everything around our house keeps falling apart. First the refrigerator, then the air compressor, the kids DVD player, and then the kitchen sink. The handle broke a week or two ago but it was still functional. We are putting in a new sink and counter tops over the next couple weeks and we were trying to wait until then to get a new faucet. Well, Wednesday night, it decided it had had enough. We were doing baths, (yes we are still doing baths in the kitchen sink, don't get me started that's a whole other post!) and as I'm rinsing Ella's hair, the water starts spraying everywhere from way down inside the faucet! I mean everywhere. And of course it had to be on the kids with all the hair, so Jake was filling a cup and I was dumping it on Ella's hair, she was crying, the boys were screaming, all in all it was just a mess. So we got the kids down for the night and Jake made an emergency Lowe's run. Two hundred and fifty dollars, a couple hours and a Home Depot run later, we have a beautiful new facet that looks totally out of place in our current kitchen. Oh well, at least it's functional.

Excuse number three. Apparently, I'm pregnant. Just this past week, I have really started to feel pregnant. He is getting big enough that my ribs are killing me. It happened with the triplets, but it happened at about 18 weeks, and I though for sure it wasn't going to happen this time. Now I know in my head I was way bigger than I am right now the first time around, but I feel absolutely massive! In my mind I know I'm smaller but I just can't convince myself! Jake constantly reminds me that I did absolutely nothing the last five weeks of my first pregnancy except lay in bed and take a shower every other day. Makes sense, I am SLIGHTLY busier than I was the first time around! HaHa!

Excuse number four. Uh this baby is coming in less than a month! I though we were totally ready and then I remembered all the stuff we gave away or got rid of. Bath tub, car seat, receiving blankets, pacifiers, burp cloths, etc. All that fun stuff I got at showers the first time around and organized when the kids were in the hospital. And this time around, I have to pack a hospital bag for myself and Charlie! Last time, I had five or six sets of PJ's and that was it, we got everything else after the kids were born. The nursing bras, the pumping stuff, the nursing tops, clothes to wear home. Ahhh! There's so much! Charlie's bag is totally packed and ready to go. I have all my stuff packed (toiletries, PJ's) except clothes because it might still be eighty degrees like it is this week, or it could be forty, so I'll have to wait until we get a little bit closer for all that stuff.

OK, if that isn't enough excuses for you, I don't know what to tell you. I promise I have a bunch of posts to do, including the kids first college football game, the kids discovery of our dogs, my big helpers, the kids first picture day at school, and much, much more! Oh, and lots and lots of pics! But here is one to hold you over 'til tomorrow!

The crew on their way to school last week!

Well the Sooners were a big fat let down on Saturday, but we didn't let it ruin our whole weekend. It was quickly followed up by a Mizzou Tiger loss so all was not lost. On Sunday, we had brunch for one of our friend's birthday. They live by IKEA so we made a quick stop to get a little storage bench for the trips. We forgot about it being OU/TX weekend (they don't have IKEA in Oklahoma) and the place was jam packed. But the kids were perfect, even though it was nap time and they had eaten at a weird time. We ran into some of Jake's friends from college who had come down for the game and also got to see his best friend and his wife so that was fun.
Here's some pics of the kids from Saturday, trying to cheer on the Sooners.

Hud man all decked out in his Sooner gear!

Ella wondering what the heck those Sooners are doing

Daddy consoling Ella after the loss

Carter man didn't seem to care what was going on!

The trio was pretty upset after the big loss, but after some Mini-Vanilla Wafers, we convinced them that their is always next year.

Last week, our started cleaning out our storage/sun room. It is the first thing you see when you come in from the back door and it was driving me nuts! So I did a little bit everyday and it's done! We still need to paint it all, but we will get to that and it is already a huge improvement. It will be perfect for getting out of the house when we it gets to cool to actually go outside. Although it is still 85 degrees everyday, I have decided fall is never going to come. Me and the kids are quickly running out of clothes! Anyway here is my new little room!

Sun room Before:

Sun room After:

We moved the piano out and we now actually have a table in our breakfast nook. Crazy I know! We can all sit down and eat together now which is fun. I put the kids little table out there for coloring and reading and then the little bench we bought on Sunday right by the door so we can store their shoes and not have to sit on the floor to put their shoes on. Hopefully we will get alot of use out of it in the coming months!

32 Weeks

Well I am officially more pregnant than I was with the triplets. Well I guess more pregnant isn't the right choice of words, because I was really pregnant with them. I guess I should say this is now the longest I have been pregnant. And so far, way easier than the first time around, still hard, but easier than the first time! My doctor's appointment went well yesterday. I still haven't gained any weight but she says Charlie is growing just fine. So he's growing and I'm shrinking, same as last time. Still feeling well and everything seems to be going just as it should be. I was thinking last night about how different this time around is than the first and I compiled a little mental list:

Triplets: They were now about ten hours old
Charlie: No indication of him making an appearance anytime soon

Triplets: Carrying about 13 pounds of baby plus all their stuff
Charlie: Carrying about 4 pounds of baby plus his stuff

Triplets: Had been laying horizontal for almost 900 hours on bedrest
Charlie: Can't wait to fall into bed at night for my precious 8 hours!

Triplets: About a million sonograms
Charlie: TWO!! Seriously, how do they know everything is OK?

Triplets: Stopped feeling them really flop around way early
Charlie: He literally looks as though he could bust out of my belly-button at all times

Triplets: A trip to the bathrooom or rolling over, was like running a marathon
Charlie: Just go, go, go all the time and don't really notice a difference

Triplets: My limbs looked like they belonged to a poor starving African child
Charlie: Still stick like, but not unhealthy looking

Triplets: Just go with the flow knowing everyday could be the day
Charlie: November 20, 2008 @ 7:30am. We've known for months now

So there are a few differences I have discovered so far! It is so different, but I am enjoying it knowing that this will be the last pregnancy for me! Here's a pic of me and little Charlie's baby bump at 32 weeks. He is obviously getting bigger, I'm just not.

The kids are doing great. They have impressed me beyond belief with the transition to their big kid beds. We have not had one problem with them trying to escape or misbehaving. Hopefully it will continue to go well!

Operation; Big Kid Beds

OK, so this weekend was a big for the kids. They are twenty-two months old and while no one has ever escaped from their cribs, I figured it was only a matter of time. So I decided to conduct a preemptive strike before those little monkeys figured out that you can actually climb out of those cribs. So, Saturday morning, we loaded up and went to buy bed rails. Their cribs convert to toddler beds so we took the sides off and put on the bed rails. The first test would be nap time. I was TOTALLY dreading it. I had heard such horror stories of kids tearing up rooms and never sleeping again, but you know what, they did absolutely perfect! They laid down after only being told once, and went right to sleep, not one escapee. So when it came time for to go down for the night, I thought, "OK, this time is gonna suck, they will have figured it out by now." But nope, they laid right down, and slept through the whole night without a peep. Sunday was more of the same. I must say, I am highly impressed and kind of feel bad for thinking of how terrible the kids would be. It will definitely make my life easier after the C-Section next month, and now when we go stay with my parents, they won't have to cram into their little portable cribs. Hooray! So it was an awesome weekend, and of course the Sooners won so the non-crib escapees were just icing on the cake!

After the Sooner's victory, and a good day of being big kids we had naked play time. The kids are hilarious when they play and wrestle together!

Since we couldn't make it to Spain this year for the "Running of the bulls", we decided to have our own version here in TX; I give you, "Running of the Naked Babies".

Poor Miss Ella usually gets the short end of the stick. She is substantially slower than the boys and they take full advantage.

I'm baaaaaaaaack!

Phew what a busy weekend! So Friday morning the kids and I headed up to Tulsa. There was on OU game Saturday, and it was also our last trip until after Charlie comes! The trip went really well, the kids slept great and we made it in record time. Miss Ell and I had a haircut appointment for Friday afternoon. It was her first real haircut and trust me, she was in desperate need. She has this long thing layer that grows at the very bottom that looks a bit mullet like! So we needed to get that taken care of. So after nap, my Nanna and Poppa came to watch the boys so me and Ella and my mom could go to the salon. Needless to say, everyone was a bit confused. This is the first time any of them have been any where by themselves. So the boys cried, Ella cried it was a mess. But the boys went on a wagon ride and settled down quickly, as did Ella when she realized all the attention was on her! She also got to make her first trip inside "Quik-Trip". She got her very own snack and drink, her daddy was so proud! Here's some pics from Friday.

Saturday, we just hung around my parents house in the morning, and played. It was too wet to play in the grass so we took our cars and played in the driveway for a while. Big Poppa also took them for a wagon ride around the neighborhood. After lunch, we put them down for a nap and headed to Norman. My Grandma Vicky and Nanna watched the kids and they said they had a great day! Of course would two grandmas say any differently?! Here's some pics from Saturday morning.

Sunday, we went to church with my parents and then came home to get ready for a birthday party. Cousin Julia's Cowgirl Party! The kids looked too cute! We only got to stay for about an hour and a half and then we started to melt down so we headed back to my folks house for the evening. Look how cute my little buckaroos looked!

Monday morning, we loaded up and headed back down south. The trip was good and we were glad to be home. Yesterday, I spent all day doing laundry and catching up on the house work. The kids and I did make some brownies that were absolutely delicious. The kids loved them, as it was their first time to have brownies. We've got some errands to run today and we will probably be spending alot of time outside! Have a good day!
